General Questions

Do you take insurance?

We do not. We can offer you a superbill for counseling sessions.

A Note on Therapy Rates and Insurance
Please note that we do not currently accept insurance, however, we can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. We do accept payment from Health Savings Accounts (HSA cards).
Good Faith Estimate
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, the “No Surprises Act,” you have a right to receive a “good faith estimate” explaining how much your therapy services will cost. Healthcare providers are required to provide clients who do not have insurance or who choose not to use their insurance for therapy services with an estimate of the cost of those services. The total cost for each client will vary depending upon the length of time and frequency of sessions that occur throughout the therapeutic relationship as determined by the initial assessment and continued evaluation of treatment needs and progress. Your estimate will be valid for the twelve (12) months from the date of issue. Should any fee changes occur, or upon your request, the practice will provide you with a new Good Faith estimate.

How much do your services cost?

All of our 50-minute sessions are $185. Our Neurotherapy intake package consists of three appointments that are $700 in total (QEEG assessment, intake history session, and QEEG review/treatment planning session).

Neurofeedback

What kind of Neurofeedback do you do?

We are trained in many modalities of Neurofeedback, Amplitude, Z score, Loreta, etc., but we mostly use amplitude training. We also use several modalities of neurostimulation. pEMF, TDCS, TACS, and TPNS.

Can I take psych medication while I do neurotherapy?

Yep. Many of our clients take medication while they are doing neurotherapy. However, as you progress with Neurotherapy, you and your doctor may need to discuss changing the amount of medication you take.

How many sessions of Neurotherapy do I need?

A typical treatment plan for Neurotherapy is 40 sessions completed 2-3 times a week. The high frequency is important for learning and for the entrainment to show lasting change in the brain. It is like training for a sporting event: if I run 45 minutes every other week, I will never get in shape for a marathon.

There is a lot of variability in the number of sessions if we include talk therapy with neurostimulation.

What can I expect from Neurotherapy?

Many neurotherapy clinics leave you in a room on your own while the EEG machine casts your brainwaves on a screen. We believe all therapies should be in the context of a relationship - so you’ll have a counselor with you the whole time. This will help you integrate your experience with the information on the screen, allowing you to receive maximum benefit from each session as you learn to regulate your moods, stress, and specific neural activity.

In each session, we place a cap or individual electrodes on your head that sense brain activity.

Is neurofeedback safe for kids and adults?

Neurofeedback, neurotherapy, and neurostimulation have all been proven to be safe for children and adults. The process is non-invasive, comfortable, and requires no medication. There are no contra-indications for medications and neurotherapy treatments, though clients who have had a recent head injury, who experience seizures, or certain other medical conditions should consult with their doctor and inform their counselors.

Is Neurofeedback effective?

Neurotherapies including neurofeedback and neurostimulation have shown promising results in various studies for conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and more. While research is ongoing, here are some resource links highlighting its efficacy:

Efficacy of non-invasive brain stimulation, clinical trial survey of psychiatric treatment with neuromodulation.

What is the difference between EMDR and Neurofeedback?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and neurofeedback are both therapeutic approaches used to address various mental health conditions, but they differ in their methodologies and focuses. EMDR is a psychotherapy technique using primarily eye movement to stimulate bilateral brain activity and help the brain reprocess emotional trauma.

Neurofeedback focuses on training individuals to self-regulate their brainwave activity by monitoring brainwave patterns. Typically, sensors are placed on the scalp, and real-time feedback is given to the subject through visual or auditory cues. Repeated sessions produce healthier patterns of brain activity, improving attention, emotional regulation, and cognitive function.

Counseling

What kinds of counseling do you offer?

As a practice, we work with kids starting at age 7 and see clients all the way through adulthood. We offer many modalities of therapy including, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, and play therapy to highlight a few. We also integrate neurostimulation with counseling for many of our clients.

What can I expect from therapy/counseling?

Everyone has a textured, complex story, with old threads from the past still coloring every present moment. No matter your reason for seeking therapy, we’re here to deeply listen and understand your thoughts and perspectives so we can work together toward the future you’ve always wanted.

You will meet with your therapist to imagine what you want your life to look and feel like in the future. Then, you’ll explore the tapestry of your past and see how it impacts your experience of life today. You and your counselor will decide the best way to unravel the impact of the past and create a path toward the future you want. This process is relational and we’ll make sure you are seen, heard, and deeply known by your counselor and yourself.

How long will I need to be in Counseling?

It’s normal to want to know how long your treatment plan will last, but the duration varies for each individual. With counseling, it takes time to find the root patterns and past experiences informing your daily wellbeing. Everyone is different, and we can say that you already have the courage you need to make the whole journey when you choose to start your first session. Your counselor will be with you through it all, prompting growth and inviting healing.

Integrated Neurofeedback & Counseling

Can I do neurofeedback and counseling at the same time?

Yes and no. We can definitely do neurostimulation and counseling at the same time. When doing neurofeedback, you are not able to talk or move much while training because the muscle movement impacts the EEG. That said, we pause the training often during the session and check in and often engage in some amounts of counseling.

What does it look like to integrate neurotherapy and counseling?

Blending counseling and neurotherapy creates a unique and powerful approach to therapy, setting us apart at our clinic in Denver. While counseling helps individuals understand their struggles and develop new coping strategies, neurostimulation actively supports this process by encouraging the brain to create different patterns of activity in real time. By simultaneously addressing both the psychological and neurological aspects of healing, clients experience increased freedom, clarity, and relaxation.

For example, neurostimulation can enhance the effectiveness of techniques like EMDR by promoting a calm state, enabling clients to tolerate intense emotions more easily. Similarly, for individuals battling depression, neurostimulation can provide an energy boost, making it easier to engage in therapeutic work and create positive changes in thinking patterns.

In our sessions, you can expect to sit comfortably while electrodes are placed on your scalp. The electrodes will administer mild electrical stimulation. Depending on the focus of the session—whether it's to support therapeutic processes or to actively change brain function—the frequency of visits and duration of treatment may vary. For clients receiving neurostimulation alongside counseling, sessions typically range from 1-2 times per week, with no fixed number of sessions. However, for those undergoing focused neurostimulation therapy, the standard recommendation is 2-4 sessions per week for approximately 40 sessions.

Ultimately, our goal is the same whether you integrate both services or stick with one: we’ll provide a warm and supportive environment where you can experience transformative healing at both the emotional and neurological levels.
