Somatic therapy can help you break free from inhibition, shake off stress, and feel truly alive. Through guided exercises and supported exploration, your somatic therapist will help you reach your therapy goals from the very first sessions. Heal your body and your mind with expert support and guidance.
Somatic therapy is one of the most exciting developments in the last few decades. Basically, you can learn to “shake off” stress, trauma, anxiety, and other symptoms.
If you look at animals and how they deal with stress, you can literally see them shake it off. For example, when a zebra narrowly escapes a cheetah, they shake off that stress. It works the same way for humans too, but many of us have lost the instinct to do this naturally.
Somatic therapy was originally developed to treat trauma like abuse, car accidents, and other painful events. It helps with anxiety, depression, flashbacks, difficulty concentrating after a painful event, and emotional pain stored in your body, among other issues. If you’re ready to feel less “stuck,” somatic therapy in Denver is for you.
Somatic Experiencing therapy is for you if you’ve experienced a trauma and want to heal it. It’s for you if you want to turn the brain’s “fire alarm” off and feel like your most calm, centered self.
It’s for teenagers and adults who want to release tension and feel good and safe in their bodies. Somatic therapy helps:
In somatic therapy, you’ll be able to tap into your nervous system's reaction to your trauma - even if it happened years or decades ago. You’ll be guided to approach your trauma slowly and come out of it. This process is called pendulation. Pendulation helps you gently work with your trauma so you can heal it and find peace.
You won’t be required to talk a lot about your trauma when using somatic therapy. We’ll do frequent check-ins with how you feel in your body. The first few sessions are about finding your “window of tolerance” so we can help you feel safe while healing.
Clients come in for weekly therapy sessions until they feel better. This is sometimes within a few months, but many come for longer time periods. Join us this week and start experiencing relief.

Therapy does take work. But it’s worth the effort. Allow one of our Denver somatic therapy specialists to support and guide you. You can lessen your symptoms and live more freely and joyfully.
A somatic therapist focuses on the connection between the mind and body, helping you process and heal from trauma and stress. They guide you in increasing body awareness and identifying physical sensations like tension or discomfort that may reflect unresolved emotions. Through this process, you can learn to recognize and connect physical sensations with past experiences.
This approach is especially effective for clients who struggle with talk therapy alone, or who have tried other therapies in the past. Somatic therapy can help you release unresolved feelings, manage stress, and build a stronger sense of safety and connection within your body. It’s often used alongside traditional therapy to create a comprehensive treatment plan.
You might benefit from somatic therapy if you notice a disconnect between your mind and body. Other common signs include chronic tension, fatigue, or pain without a clear medical cause, as well as difficulty relaxing or feeling "safe" in your body. If you’ve experienced trauma, anxiety, or stress that feels unresolved despite talk therapy or other approaches, somatic therapy may help by addressing how these issues are stored in your body.
This modality is especially beneficial for those who want to build greater self-awareness, process trauma safely and gradually, or develop tools to manage stress and reconnect with their sense of inner balance and resilience. If that sounds beneficial, contact us for a free consultation.
A somatic release can happen in the course of therapy, though it’s not something we aim for. If it happens we welcome it, and if it doesn’t happen that’s okay too.
If you do experience a somatic release, it may feel like a physical and emotional "letting go," where tension or trapped energy in the body is released. It feels like relief and lightness. The experience can vary widely from person to person. Common sensations include muscle relaxation, trembling, tingling, warmth, or a noticeable shift in energy flow.
Emotionally, somatic release might be accompanied by tears, laughter, or a feeling of emotional catharsis, even without consciously recalling a specific memory or event. Some people report a sense of spaciousness, calm, or groundedness in their bodies, while others may feel temporarily vulnerable or raw as emotions surface and are processed.
These experiences are a natural part of the body releasing stored trauma or stress. While it can be intense for some, most people describe feeling more relaxed, connected, and present afterward. Working with a Denver somatic therapist can allow this release to happen safely and at a pace that feels manageable.
We’re accepting new clients and can start you off with a complimentary in-person or virtual consultation. It’s 30 minutes and is done with one of our licensed somatic therapists. This is your chance to share whatever you’re comfortable sharing, ask questions, and see which of our therapists is a good fit for you (we’ll help as well). You can trust that our therapists are highly trained and experienced when it comes to treating trauma using somatic therapy.
